Tasty Caramel Fondue
If caramel is your delight, then this fondue is for you! Rich and scrumptious, it's the perfect end to a perfect meal.
Caramel Fondue Recipe Ingredients
4 egg yolks, beaten well
2 cups milk, warmed
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 cup boiling water
2 tablespoons rum
2 tablespoons cornstarch/ cornflour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Caramel Fondue Recipe Directions
In a medium skillet over a medium heat, first melt the sugar.
Stir quickly and continuously until all the sugar has melted.
In a medium bowl, whisk the rum with the cornstarch, remembering to add just a little of each at a time to ensure a good, smooth consistency.
In a bowl inside the top half of your double-boiler over a low-medium heat, whisk together the milk and the egg yolks for 30 seconds.
Add in the cornstarch and rum mixture.
STIR CONTINUOUSLY while mixture is cooking over simmering water.
Add the melted sugar to the half a cup of boiling water.
Then immediately pour the sugar and water mixture into the milk mixture in the double-boiler.
The sugar will harden again slightly, but just make sure you continue to stir everything together in the double boiler for 15 - 20 minutes.
After 15 - 20 minutes, take the mixture from the heat source.
Straight away, stir in the vanilla extract.
Pour the caramel fondue into your fondue pot.
Use strawberries, wedges of apple, thick slices of banana and/ or marshmallows to dip into your delicious caramel fondue (and remember to save some for me!)
